Dr Sara's Honey Potions

I'm new to soap making and this a good basic guide to get me started.

I have many soap books but this is my"go to" book. As a bee keeper I wanted to use hive products and also wanted to use the soap as soon as it's made-Dr. Sarah shows you how. The most useful parts are at the end, she explains and gives examples of water discounting and superfatting in chart form which I use all the time. A fantastic book with lots of recipes, simple and easy to use with step by step guides on all recipes so no flipping back and forth to find out how to make them. Highly recommended. Well done Sarah!

Totally underwhelming. The first three recipes in the book don't instruct you how to make the base product. For example, the first recipe in the book is a rather pathetic recipe for Honey Bubble Bath, which instructs you to simply to buy a bottle of bubble bath and add honey! The second recipe for 'Lavender Honey Cream' is to purchase Base cream and add honey and lavender fragrance! And so it goes on. For £14, I expected much much more. For this book I'd expect to pay around £7 and that's being generous. It's very badly edited, with a small faded font giving an overall cheap greyness of the pages. There are numerous layout errors and many typos with no illustrations apart from strange badly photocopied pictures of ornamental woodcuts which seem to be irrelevant to the actual recipes. The content regarding creams and bubble baths is seriously pathetic considering this is supposed to be a book instructing you how to actually make potions. The lip balms and bath bombs are OK. The soap section, which I presume is more of the authors specialty is much better and informative, but still embracing a dull overall look. This is my first purchase in this field and I had hoped for so much more than this.

Really interesting book very informative

This is an excellent book, with soap recipes that are quick and easy to do and Ive made several batches of honey soap so far, with success.

Was looking forward to extending our own range of natural honey products with this honey potions book,but disappointed to discover that palm oil featured heavily in most recipes. Surely, the author should not advocate the use of a product that has resulted in the destruction of great swathes of rain forest. Very disappointing.
