Kahoot H918 Deluxe Hardwood Scroll Frame, 9 by 18-Inch

I originally bought this product to use for parts as a stand for my existing scroll frame of the same brand (purchased five years ago). The holes weren't drilled quite big enough for my purposes, so I decided I would use it as an actual scroll frame. Oh, how wrong I was.First, the wood is unfinished. By unfinished I mean "someone hacked this out with a rusty file", "touch it and you'll get splinters" unfinished. Rough enough to chew up your nice needlework. Okay, well, I just planed it down until it was smooth.Second, the holes are drilled at an angle that is definitely not 90 degrees. Okay, well, I can just deal with it, since I have some wiggle room in the clamps.Third, the provided split rollers are sawn so poorly as to be unusable -- the cut visibly wavers and wanders and the thickness of the cut varies. Oh, and the wood is even rougher than the other pieces. Okay, well, I'll just get a 5/8" dowel at the hardware store since I already know it won't fit 3/4".Fourth... the holes are too big to hold a 5/8" dowel. I mean, if you wanted said dowel to roll freely in the holes, it would be fine, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the scroll frame.I'd already cut up my other good scroll frame (which is working fine as a stand) and now I'm stuck with this monstrosity that makes the cheap dollar wooden embroidery hoops with the flimsy brass hardware look like fine art. Don't be like me. Learn from my mistakes. Spend a little more and get a good scroll frame, because if you purchase this one you will speed through Buyer's Remorse, make a hard left at Dismay, and come to an abrupt and painful stop in Utter Disappointment.

Fairly good about tightening but the material doesn't stay that way.

This frame is well made - tightens well with easy adjustment and the necessary scrolling as you move along the pattern of the canvas. I would recommend it and wish that Amazon would offer packages of the kit, the necessary frame and the lighted LED magnifying floor lamps. You need all three and a package would be useful for beginners.

This frame broke before I even really got started on my piece. The wood itself cracked up near the bolt hole.

This is the best needlecraft scroll frame that I ever had! It is easy to put together, made of quality materials and it is great to work on needlepoint and crewel designs. I like it so much that I just ordered another one! Don't hesitate to buy one! You won't be disappointed!

Was such poor quality that I couldn't even get it put together. I finally had to return it. (For the record, I bought one about 10 years ago and it was much better quality. I actually still use it. The quality has deteriorated tremendously.)

I wasn't expecting a highly crafted piece of workmanship, but this frame is unusable. The holes in the side bars (where the dowels are inserted) are not centered correctly. The uneven placement of the dowels causes the assembled frame to be twisted and unusable.
