Heavy flip flops, but not uncomfortable
I live on the beach and I'm constantly wearing flip flops wherever I go. I've worn various brand from Nike, Adidas, Skechers, and Reefs, but the problem every one of them had was they would wear out between 3 to 6 months. When I saw many comments saying the Islander flip flops last a long time, I had to give them a try.Size - I'm a relatively tall, large foot male, so I needed something that would fit properly. These flip flops run slightly smaller than my normal size. I would order one size larger next time.Comfort - These shoes, oddly enough, are actually pretty heavy. When I first put them on, I wasn't sure if I was going to keep them. However, I wore them around the house and eventually got used to them. If you are used to thinner flip flops, these will certainly make your feet feel "odd". It did take some time getting used to them, but they are comfortable.Longevity - While I've only had these for a week or so, they dont appear to be breaking down. The rubber isnt coming off in chunks, and the sole seems pretty thick. I imagine these will last for some time.

Best flip flops ever
I lived in the Philippines over fifteen years ago for almost two years, and when I got back to the states, I looked for these sandals, or sandals like them, and couldn't find them. There is nothing quite like Islander sandals, they soles are soft and comfortable and thick. I hate normal flip flops because they almost feel like you are walking on the ground. These sandals are thick and comfortable and the bottoms of your feet feel like you are wearing a good pair of sneakers. They are well made and I would recommend them to anyone. I just wish they came in more sizes.

Fine, but just Ok.
I saw a bunch of reviews saying how these are the best flip flops ever, and I don't see what the hoopla is all about. Some even mention hiking in them, and I would definitely not recommend. They are much better than standard cheapo flip flops and I like them just fine, but the cost for a size 11 (which just barely fits my size 10.5 feet with between 1/8th and 1/4 of an inch of material around the foot), is definitely not worth the price. If you are a smaller size and can snag a pair for $11 or $12, there's nothing wrong with them and I'm sure your will like them. But not for twice that price. If I were going to spend that kind of money, I would have been much happier with the major brand of flip flops (who's name I won't mention in a product review for another company) made out of foam rubber with a logo and name that resembles an alligator.

The piece that goes in-between your toes does not hurt your toes to wear!!!
Islander is a wonderful sandal. Back in the mid 90s, I bought a pair of islanders that had a thinner grosgrain ribbon as the straps and leather instead of rubber that my feet rested on. I tried to keep them as long as possible, but I wore the rubber soles down to almost nothing and had to throw them out...I tried looking all over for another pair like them but, with them being over 20 years old, they are no longer available. Islanders, you may want to consider bringing them back!!!

Order 1 size bigger if you don't want it snug
This is the real deal! The same slippers that I always buy one of when I go to the Philippines and the same slippers that I have used to squish so many bugs. Although, it is also the same slipper that has put fear in many Filipino children with a furious parent. The thickness is what did it for me, makes it very durable as well.

I didn't like wearing flip flops until I visited the Philippines 20 years ago. Now I wear them all the time, I have some foot ailments and I am most comfortable wearing these. I wear a 10.5 shoe and buy size 11 Islanders and there is an extra half inch of room by my heel. I have bought size 10 also but my heel extenders slightly over the end of the flip flop. Its okay, but I prefer the extra space. These are very sturdy and stiff, I like that. I wish the seller would get size 11 in Blue, that is an updated model from the blue ones I have - I'd buy a couple pairs to add to my collection. Highly recommend these if you like a stiff and sturdy flip flop that lasts a long time.

BEWARE! Not Islander sandals of old
Very hard rubber, very uncomfortable. Size 7s are far too small. Never had a problem with 7s before. Note, they will charge you to return!!
